India National Cricket Team spinner Yuzvendra Chahal is all set to feature in the County Cricket this year as well. The leg-spinner will be representing Northamptonshire during his contract period which runs from June until the end of the 2025 season.
This will be the third time that Yuzvendra Chahal will be playing county Cricket. The Indian player made his debut in English domestic cricket while playing for Kent in 2023. He made an immediate impact on his joining as he picked 5/14 on his List A debut for the club against Kent.

In 2024, Chahal was signed by Northamptonshire and made sure that he continued his success there as well. The leg-spinner played a vital role for the team and helped them finish in fourth place in Division Two. He bowled magnificently well as he picked 19 wickets in 4 games at an average of 21.10.
Chahal also picked two fifers during his stint with Northamptonshire last year. He picked 5 for 45 against Derbyshire and ended up registering his career-best first-class match figures of 9 for 99 in the same game with his heroics with the ball.

Yuzvendra Chahal talked about playing for Northamptonshire, saying that he enjoyed his time last year and is delighted to be back. He expressed his excitement to join his teammates and backed the club to win the county Championship. He said:
“I thoroughly enjoyed my time here last season so I’m very happy to be coming back.” Chahal said.”There are some great people in that dressing room, and I can’t wait to be part of that again. We played some great cricket towards the back end of the season, so hopefully, we’re able to replicate that and big up some victories.”

Northamptonshire head coach Darren Lehmann, who was recently appointed, talked about Yuzvendra Chahal’s signing, saying that he is excited to work with one of the best leg spinners. He talked about the experience that the spinner brings and said:
“I’m really excited that one of the best leg spinners in the world is returning to Northamptonshire this season. He brings invaluable experience and he’s an absolute gentleman who loves the game. Having him available from mid-June until the end of the season will be fantastic for us.”
Yuzvendra Chahal will be joining County Cricket after the IPL 2025. The leg-spinner was picked by Punjab Kings after becoming the most expensive spin bowler at IPL auctions. He was brought for INR 18 crore and would be keen to play a crucial role for the side.
