Women’s World Boxing Championships Semi-Final Highlights: Star pugilist Nikhar Zareen overpowered Colombia’s Ingrid Valencia by a unanimous decision to reach the final of the 50kg category, assuring India of a silver, at least. Earlier, Nitu Ghanghas also advanced to the final after beating Kazhakhstan’s Alua Balkibekova after a split decision. Lovlina Borgohain also prevailed in the 75kg semi-final after overcoming China’s Li Qian by a split verdict in the semi-final bout. In the 81 kg category semi-final, Saweety Boora defeated Australia’s Emma Greentree after a split decision.

Four judged gave the verdict in favour of the Indian pugilist, while one, shockingly, picked the Colombian. There was never a doubt as to who was the dominant boxer in the first round.
