Juveniles take center stage on the Gulfstream Park turf course May 11, as a pair of $120,000, five-furlong stakes will award an automatic berth to one of six 2-year-old races held at the Royal Ascot meeting June 18-22.
Trainer George Weaver hopes for déjà vu after sweeping the 2023 series with Crimson Advocate , who would win Royal Ascot’s Queen Mary Stakes (G2), in the Royal Palm Juvenile Fillies and No Nay Mets in the Royal Palm Juvenile. This year, he brings a first-time starter to each race.
Good Long Cry debuts in the Juvenile Fillies for Black Type Thoroughbreds, Swinbank Stables, Steve Adkissson, and Campeche Stables. In the Juvenile, Weaver sends Governor Sam for owners Bregman Family Stables and Swinbank Stables.
FIRST-OUT Winners Include:
- The Queens M G won by a nose at Keeneland April 7 and joins the barn of trainer Saffie Joseph Jr. for the Juvenile Fillies.
- Perfect Shances soared to a 4 3/4-length victory over a sloppy Keeneland track April 11 for trainer Wesley Ward and Walter Rodriguez, who returns to ride the Juvenile Fillies.
- Ward and Rodriguez also team up with the only winner in the field for the Juvenile, Raise the Bar , who wired an April 10 Keeneland maiden race by 2 1/4 lengths.
The Juvenile Fillies will go off as race 8 at 4:49 p.m. ET, and the Juvenile will be race 10 at 5:52.
