NEW DELHI: A swirling and tumbling Yuzvendra Chahal managed to pull off a superb catch to get rid of Punjab Kings opener Prabhsimran Singh (26) in the IPL game in Guwahati on Wednesday.
Initially it looked as if Chahal had made a mess of a skier that came off the top edge of Prabhsimran’s bat. But despite falling, he somehow held onto the ball, leaving his Rajasthan Royals teammates and bowler Trent Boult pleasantly surprised.
The incident took place in the first over of Punjab’s chase when Prabhsimran tried to smack Boult on the on-side but the top edge made the ball go straight up and towards short third-man.
Stationed inside the circle, Chahal back pedalled and was all over the place while keeping his eyes on the ball. In a tumbling state, he went for the catch reverse cup and the ball just stuck into his hands.

The wicket of Prabhsimran was a record 28th time Boult got a wicket in the first over across all IPLs.
Earlier, Punjab restricted Royals to a meagre 144 for nine.
For Royals, local hero Riyan Parag scored 48 off 34 balls on a difficult track while Punjab skipper Sam Curran (2/24), Harshal Patel (2/28), Nathan Ellis (1/24) and Rahul Chahar (2/26) were all on target.
RR have already qualified for the playoffs while PBKS have been knocked out this season and are playing for pride.
