Watch: Rohit Sharma awarded with special medal after Mumbai Indians’ final IPL 2024 fixture against Lucknow Super Giants | Cricket News

NEW DELHI: Rohit Sharma, the Mumbai Indians (MI) opener, received a special medal from team owner Nita Ambani after his explosive 68-run knock against the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the Wankhede Stadium. Despite Rohit’s impressive performance, MI fans experienced mixed emotions as their team suffered their 10th loss of the season and fell to the bottom of the points table.
In a video shared by MI on their official social media handle X, head coach Mark Boucher praised the former skipper for his outstanding innings.Rohit’s 68 runs came off just 38 deliveries, breaking his streak of low scores.

LSG batted first after winning the toss, and their decision paid off as KL Rahul (55 runs from 41 balls, 3 fours and 3 sixes) and Nicholas Pooran (75 runs from 29 balls, 5 fours and 8 sixes) played fiery knocks. Marcus Stoinis (28 runs from 22 balls, 5 fours) and Ayush Badoni (22* runs from 10 balls, 1 four and 2 sixes) also contributed significantly, helping LSG post a formidable total of 214/6.
MI had a strong start to their run chase, with Rohit Sharma (68 runs from 38 balls, 10 fours and 3 sixes) and Dewald Brevis (23 runs from 20 balls, 1 four and 2 sixes) putting on an 88-run partnership.
However, rain interrupted the game briefly after the fourth over. Naman Dhir’s stunning 62* runs from 28 balls (4 fours and 5 sixes) in the later stages of the chase gave MI hope, but they ultimately fell short by 18 runs.
