T20 World Cup 2024: Watch

England speeder Jofra Archer is gearing up well for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024. The fast bowler bowled a fiery spell of fast bowling for Sussex 2nd XI in the County Championship at Beckenham on Friday (May 17th).

Jofra Archer was roped in by the Sussex 2nd XI for the day 4 of the match against Kent. The pacer made sure that he oozes his class with the ball and proved he is still as dangerous as he was before his long injury lay-off. He troubled the Kent batters, who looked clueless against him.

Jofra Archer bowled 6 overs in the game against Kent and he made sure that he steams in full throttle. The fast bowler picked one wicket with his impeccable lines and lengths. He hit Kent batter Ekansh Singh on the helmet before making him edge one to the slips with a delivery that climbed sharply.

Here’s the video of Jofra Archer’s fiery spell against Kent:

Jofra Archer will be now linking up with England for the T20I series against Pakistan. The Jos Buttler-led side will be hosting Babar Azam-led side for the four-match series ahead of the T20 World Cup 2024. The games will be played between 22nd May and 30th May and will serve as a huge preparation for both teams.

The series against England will mark Jofra Archer’s comeback to international cricket after a long injury lay-off. His career has been marred by a lot of injuries which hasn’t allowed him to play. He made a return to International cricket in 2023 against South Africa and picked a 6-fer.

However, after that, he got injured again in the IPL 2023. The pacer then missed the ICC World Cup 2023 and since then has been working hard. He has gained full fitness and now would be keen to make a mark in international cricket when he returns to action against Pakistan and also will be a huge factor for his team in the T20 World Cup 2024.

It’s a huge encouragement for him to be back – Jos Buttler on Jofra Archer

England white-ball skipper Jos Buttler expressed his delight in having Jofra Archer back in the team. He highlighted the quality that the pacer brings with him but also is aware that they need to check their expectations because the fast bowler is coming after injury. He stated as quoted by the Independent:

“It’s a huge encouragement for him to be back and see him ready to play. Everyone knows what he is capable of and the attitude he possesses. As a captain he is someone you can always turn to in a game because he always has a trick up his sleeve.

“It’s great to be able to call on him but it’s important to manage expectations. He has been out of it for a while now so we will need to look after him and realise that it might just take him a little while to be the Jofra of 2019. He is a proper superstar but we do have to be smart with him. It’s a jump in intensity from what he’s doing now to international cricket and you can’t really replicate it.”

England will be opening their campaign in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 against Scotland. The match will take place on 4th June.
