SRH and GT play the reverse fixture of IPL 2024 in Hyderabad on Thursday, May 16. The match starts at 7.30 pm IST. This is a must-win game for SRH to remain in playoff contention. GT have become the third team to be eliminated from the tournament after MI and PBKS. The rain-affected contest in Ahmedabad ended their hopes this season.

Sunrisers Hyderabad 

SRH will be playing their penultimate game at home. They play their last two games at home which gives them a great opportunity to make it to the playoffs. Hyderabad have won four out of the five games played at home so far and can certainly win the last two. 

They have been dominant at home with their batters scoring tons of runs at home. Their previous 10-wicket win against LSG will give them the confidence to go all out against GT against whom they have won just one out of the four matches played.

Gujarat Titans 

GT won an emphatic game against CSK at home and then went down against KKR who have already made it to the playoffs. The match between KKR and GT was called off due to rain.  In the process, they were eliminated from the tournament this season.

Gujarat Titans who played back-to-back finals in 2022 and 2023 have not looked like the same team this year. They have not been consistent as a team and have not managed to maintain consistency.

Losing Mohammed Shami was a huge setback and the opening combination of Shubman Gill and Wriddhiman Saha has not worked out so far. The combination of GIll and Sudharsan did work out in the last two games and GT will need that to continue.

Hyderabad has been a high-scoring venue this season with scores of 200-plus posted regularly by SRH themselves. SRH’s total of 277 is the highest total posted at this venue this season. 

The SRH opening combination of Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma has helped them get great starts in the tournament which has enabled them to post big totals.

Form and Fitness 

The form of SRH is particularly good heading into this game. They won their previous game by 10 wickets which should give them immense confidence heading into this encounter.

GT will be traveling to Hyderabad and know the threat they are expected to encounter. There are no injury concerns for either team heading into this game. 

Tactical Acumen

Pat Cummins, the more seasoned and experienced skipper knows the home conditions very well and knows exactly how to use the bowlers in those conditions. Visiting skipper Shubman Gil will be under pressure to win the last game with their qualification chances hanging by a thread.
