Team India secured the victory over New Zealand in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 final clash, and the celebrations off the field grabbed the attention of fans. Young Indian batter Shubman Gill’s father broke into a ‘Bhangra’ dance alongside Rishabh Pant, with Arshdeep Singh also joining the celebration.

India beat New Zealand by four wickets in the final match at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Sunday, March 9. This was India’s second consecutive ICC title, achieved without losing a single match. Videos of the Indian team’s celebrations went viral on social media after their memorable triumph.

During the celebrations, Rishabh Pant and Shubman Gill’s father lit up the moment with a spontaneous bhangra dance.

The celebration kicked off when Rohit Sharma and his team gathered after their victory. Pant, known for his fun personality, was joined by Gill’s father, who had been a passionate supporter throughout the tournament.

They stole the spotlight by showing off Bhangra moves, with Arshdeep Singh later joining in. This video showcased friendship, family, and the team’s incredible journey.

Shubman Gill, Rishabh Pant’s Performance in ICC Champions Trophy 2025

Shubman Gill was dismissed for 31 off 50 balls, including one six, in the final. He had a 105-run stand with Rohit Sharma for the first wicket. Gill scored 188 runs in five matches at an average of 47 and a strike rate of 75.5. His best performance came during the match against Bangladesh, where he scored 101 runs.

On the other hand, Rishabh Pant didn’t get a chance in the playing XI throughout the tournament. KL Rahul was preferred over Pant as the wicketkeeper-batter in the batting lineup. Rahul made an impact with the bat in knockout matches, scoring 42 (34) in the semifinal and 34 (33) in the final.

New Zealand scored 251 runs in 50 overs. Daryl Mitchell was the top scorer for the Blackcaps with 63 runs off 101 balls. Michael Bracewell (53 off 40)* and Rachin Ravindra (37 off 29) also made valuable contributions.

Kuldeep Yadav and Varun Chakaravarthy picked up two wickets each, while Mohammed Shami and Ravindra Jadeja took one wicket each.

In response, Rohit Sharma (76 off 83) and Shubman Gill (31) gave India a strong start. However, the New Zealand spinners turned the game around, picking up key wickets and reducing India to 122/3.

With the match hanging in the balance, Shreyas Iyer (48), Axar Patel (29), KL Rahul (34), and Hardik Pandya (18) played crucial knocks to keep India in the race. Ravindra Jadeja (9) sealed the victory with a boundary in the 49th over.

Rohit Sharma was named Player of the Match for his match-winning knock of 76 off 83 balls. India successfully chased down a 252-run target to claim the title.
