NEW DELHI: Indian cricketer Virat Kohli’s star power continues to command attention, not just on the cricket field but also in the market for cricketing gear.
A recent video shared by Australian podcaster and YouTuber Norman Kochanek has highlighted the premium price of Kohli’s MRF Genius Grand King bat, which is being sold for a staggering 2,985 AUD (approximately INR 1.64 lakh) at the Greg Chappell Cricket Centre.
The bat, adorned with Kohli’s signature on its sticker, has become a collector’s item for cricket enthusiasts. The YouTuber added that the bat comes with its customised bag.
The hefty price tag underscores Kohli’s global appeal, which remains undiminished even as the former India captain navigates a challenging phase in his Test career. His face dominates promotional materials for the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia, a reminder of his stature despite no longer leading the team.
Australia has historically been a happy hunting ground for Kohli, where he has scored 1,352 runs in 13 Tests at an impressive average of 54.08, including six centuries. However, his recent struggles in Test cricket, including a dip in form during India’s rare whitewash at the hands of New Zealand at home, have sparked debate.
As the series kicks off on Friday, all eyes will be on whether Kohli can recapture the brilliance.
