Right Hand Ryder Gives Sire First Victory

Right Hand Ryder  went three-wide into the first turn and took control of a maiden claiming race March 3 at Golden Gate Fields to give his sire, G.G. Ryder, his first winner.

Making his seventh career start, Right Hand Ryder had finished fourth in all but one of his previous races. His one-mile win Sunday over the all-weather track at Golden Gate Fields stopped the clock in 1:39.41.

The Sergio Salguero homebred is trained by Samuel Calvario.

G.G. Ryder stands for $2,000 at Victory Rose Thoroughbreds in Vacaville, Calif. He began his stud career in 2020 after a seven-plus-year racing career.

The son of Chhaya Dance went 16-14-7 from 64 starts. A multiple grade 3 winner, he earned $747,819. Among his triumphs are the 2015 San Francisco Stakes (G3) and All American Stakes (G3), which he won in consecutive starts. It would be two years until he would see a graded victory again, taking the All American in 2017. He raced exclusively in California, predominately at Golden Gate Fields.
