NYRA Reschedules Athenia Due to Rainy Forecast

Out of precaution because of rain forecast in the New York City area, the Oct. 21 Athenia Stakes (G3T) has been rescheduled.

The 1 1/8-mile turf race for fillies and mares 3 and up at Belmont at the Big A is being moved to Oct. 27.

NYRA vice president of communications Pat McKenna noted in a post on X, formerly Twitter, that Aqueduct Racetrack has received 16.68 inches of rain since Labor Day. Forecasts are calling for around a quarter inch of rain Friday.

Trainer Chad Brown has won the last three editions of the Athenia and six of the previous seven.
