Michael Vaughan predicts result of PAK vs ENG 2nd Test

Former England captain Michael Vaughan has predicted the result of the second Test match between Pakistan and England at Multan. Vaughan reckons that the second Test will go the same way as the first Test.

Pakistan batted first in the second Test match just like the first match. They scored 366 runs in their first innings, thanks to the debutant Kamran Ghulam and the opener Saim Ayub. Ghulam scored a magnificent century in his maiden Test match and finished on 118 off 224 balls.

Meanwhile, Saim Ayub played a patient innings and showed enough promise. The youngster showed that he learned from his mistakes in the last match and scored 77 off 160 balls. Apart from these two, Mohammad Rizwan, Salman Ali Agha, Aamer Jamal, and Noman Ali also chipped in with useful contributions with the bat.

Michael Vaughan predicts the result of the PAK vs ENG 2nd Test

Looking at how the Test match was going at that time, Michael Vaughan took to social media to predict the result of this Test match. He mentioned that the second Test would also go the same way the first Test went. He also predicted England to take a first-innings lead and a collapse by Pakistan in their second innings.

“Early signs this Test could end up the same as the first .. England lead then Pakistan collapse in the 2nd innings,” Michael Vaughan posted on X (formerly Twitter).

At the time when Michael Vaughan posted this tweet, England were going smoothly on what looked like a flat batting track in Multan. Ben Duckett and Zak Crawley started brilliantly for England and out on 73 runs for the first wicket.

England openers start well

Crawley was dismissed but Duckett kept scoring runs at a good pace. England’s No. 3 Ollie Pope looked good at the crease but was bowled by a ripper from the offspinner Sajid Khan. Pope was dismissed for 29 off 37 balls.

Joe Root looked dangerous and it seemed like he would cause Pakistan trouble again. But he was dismissed by Sajid Khan in an attempt to sweep the ball. Root was out for 34 off 54 balls. Root’s wicket started a flurry of dismissals for Pakistan which brought them back into the game.

Pakistan spinners make a terrific comeback

Sajid seemed unstoppable as he dismissed the triple centurion of the last match Harry Brook for just 9 runs. Brook went back to a good-length ball that turned sharply and smashed the middle and off.

Left-arm spinner Noman Ali joined the party and dismissed England captain Ben Stokes for just 1 to leave England in tatters. It was an exceptional performance from the Pakistani spinners as they picked up 4 wickets for just 14 runs. England finished Day 2 at 239-6 with Jamie Smith and Brydon Carse at the crease.
