Longtime Pletcher Racing COO Sweet Stepping Down

After 25 years behind the scenes at Todd Pletcher’s Pletcher Racing Stable, COO Maggie Sweet has decided to step down later this season.

“A number of factors have influenced my decision. Personally, I would like to spend more time with my young daughter during the summer,” Sweet said. “Professionally, I am interested in exploring other aspects of the racing and breeding industry.”

During her tenure, Sweet played a pivotal role in the growth and continued success of Pletcher Racing Stable, a period that saw Pletcher earn eight Eclipse Awards as outstanding trainer. More recently, she was a driving factor behind the establishment of Todd Pletcher as an industry stallion-maker. Pletcher was enshrined in the Racing Hall of Fame in 2021.

Pletcher commented, “Maggie contributed in many ways and has played a huge part in the success and development of our stable. She will be missed by our entire team and will be impossible to replace.”
