India’s Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty defeated Takuro Hoki and Yugo Kobayashi of Japan 21-14, 21-17 in the Korea Open quarterfinals at Korea Open Super 500 tournament in Yeosu on Friday.
The Asian champions Satwik and Chirag have now progressed into the semifinals and will meet the Chinese pair Liang Wei Keng and Wang Chang on Saturday.
The Indian pair took 40 minutes to defeat the Japanese duo in straight sets convincingly.
It was the fifth time the two pairs met, and Satwik-Chirag got the better of the Hoki-Kobayashi duo for the fourth time.
