Joe Root achieves career-high rating, cements GOAT status by joining legendary ICC list

England National Cricket Team batter Joe Root has extended his lead at the top of the ICC Test rankings for batters. This comes after his terrific performance with the bat in the recently concluded first Test against the Pakistan National Cricket Team at the Multan Cricket Stadium in Multan.

Joe Root played a massive role in England winning the first Test of the three-match Test series against Pakistan. The premier batter came up with a humongous effort with the bat and helped his team win the opening game of the series by the massive margin of an inning and 47 runs

Root played a staggering innings of 262 runs and became the leading run-getter for his team in the history of Test cricket. He surpassed Alastair Cook to become the highest run-scorer for England. He also has the most number of tons for the team in the longest format of the game.

After his sensational performance in the first Test against Pakistan, Root strengthens his position at the top of the ICC rankings. His rating has now reached 932 points, and he surpassed the previous highest mark of 923 rating in Test cricket for the England National Cricket Team.

Only 16 players have had better rating points than Joe Root in Test rankings

Joe Root has now joined the elite list of players who have attained 932 points or more in Test cricket. Only 16 players have managed to better the Root’s rankings. Here’s the list:

Joe Root has more than 100 rating points than joint 2nd ranked batter Harry Brook

With Joe Root now attaining 932 points, the right-hander now has more than 100 rating points for the second-ranked batter in the current ICC rankings. His teammate Harry Brook, who slammed a triple century in the first Test against Pakistan, also massive gains in the ICC rankings.

Harry Brook rose 11 places and equaled Kane Williamson to share the second place in the ICC Test rankings. Both batters have rating points of 839. The duo are currently playing against Pakistan and India, respectively, and will have a great opportunity to surpass each other.

Ben Duckett also made a rise in the ICC Test rankings

England’s opening batter, Ben Duckett, also made a rise in the ICC Test rankings. The opening batter played a decent innings of 84 during England’s only innings in Multan and rose five places to move to 14th on the list for Test batters.

Apart from him, Pakistan National Cricket Team all-rounder Salman Ali Agha, who played an unbeaten innings of 104 runs, jumped 11 places to the 22nd spot in the ICC Test rankings for batters. Skipper Shan Masood also made some ground after his 151 as he climbed up 12 spots to equal the 51st spot.

In terms of ICC Test rankings for bowlers, England duo Gus Atkinson (up three places to 23rd) and Jack Leach (up nine spots to 28th) move up the latest Test rankings for bowlers. Root also moved one spot up and acquired third position on the updated rankings for Test all-rounders.
