The ICC World Test Championship points table is keeping everyone excited. The final of the tournament is around the corner, and there are still a lot of teams that are in contention for the final, including India, Australia, South Africa, Sri Lanka, New Zealand, and England.

Among all, South Africa have emerged to be the strong candidate to take the one spot in the final. This comes after their series victory over the Bangladesh National Cricket Team away from home, winning the two-match Test series by the margin of 2-0.

After winning the first Test by a massive margin, South Africa came up with another magical performance in the second game against the Bangladesh National Cricket Team. They went on to win the game by a massive margin of innings and 273 runs.

South Africa posts a massive total of 575 runs on the board

South Africa National Cricket Team opted to bat first and they came up with the humongous effort with the bat. Skipper Aiden Markram (33) had a start but perished early. However, after that, it was all about Tony de Zorzi and Tristan Stubbs. The duo made a mockery of the Bangladesh bowlers and ended up hitting tons.

While Stubbs ended with an innings of 106 runs off 198 balls, Tony de Zorzi played a magnificent innings of 177 runs off 269 balls. The duo added 201 runs for the second wicket and kept their team in the top position right from the start.

David Bedingham (59) continued his golden touch in Test cricket and slammed another half-century. In the end, Wiaan Mulder (105*) and Senuran Muthusamy (68*) did further carnage as the South Africa National Cricket Team declared their first innings on 575/6.

Bangladesh suffers a massive innings and 273 runs defeat

In response, Bangladesh couldn’t get going at all with the bat. They kept losing wickets at regular intervals and got all out for 159 runs. Mominul Haque was the lone warrior for the team as he played an innings of 82 runs while the rest of the batters struggled to go past the 30-run mark. Kagiso Rabada was the pick of the bowlers with his figures of 5/37.

South Africa then enforced the follow-on and came up with another sensational effort with the ball. They bundled out Bangladesh for just 143 runs and won the game by a massive margin of innings and 273 runs. Senuran Muthusamy took five wickets while Keshav Maharaj bagged four scalps.

After the win, South Africa moved to the No.4 spot in the ICC World Test Championship points table. They now have a PCT of 54.17 while Najmul Hossain Shanto-led Bangladesh slipped to No.8. India and Australia retained the top two spots.
