In a major boost for the Mumbai cricket team, India’s T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav and star all-rounder Shivam Dube have confirmed their availability for their quarter-final clash of the ongoing Ranji Trophy 2024-25 against Haryana at the Chaudhary Bansi Lal Cricket Stadium in Lahli.
With India’s T20I assignments completing with a 4-1 series win over England at home, Suryakumar Yadav will return to domestic cricket, as he has not been part of India’s upcoming ODI series and the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 along with Shivam Dube.
Suryakumar Yadav and Shivam Dube return to Domestic Cricket for Mumbai’s Ranji Trophy 2024-25 Quarterfinal
The Men in Blue will kick off their ICC Champions Trophy 2025 campaign against Bangladesh on February 20 in Dubai. Then, they will face Pakistan on February 23, followed by their final group game against New Zealand on March 2 in the eight-nation tournament.

Before the Champions Trophy 2025, the Indian cricket team will play a three-match ODI series against England, starting on February 6 in Nagpur. The second ODI and third ODI are scheduled on February 9 and 12 in Cuttack and Ahmedabad, respectively.
Since Dube and Yadav both are not part of India’s ODI plans, they made themselves available for Mumbai’s upcoming matches in the ongoing Ranji Trophy 2024-25. Their return is a major boost for the Mumbai side, but Suryakumar had a really poor T20I series against England.
MCA confirms Suryakumar Yadav and Shivam Dube’s availability for Haryana clash
His scores in the recent T20I series against England read 0, 14, 12, 0, and 2. However, Shivam Dube was impressive with the bat, hitting fifty in the Pune T20I, followed by a handy knock of 30 runs in the fifth and final T20I that the hosts won by 150 runs at the Wankhede Stadium.
Meanwhile, the Mumbai cricket team is currently in second place in the Group A points table with 29 points, trailing only behind Jammu and Kashmir, who is leading the table with 35 points after beating Baroda in the final group match last week.
A Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) source was quoted as saying by the Indian Express: “Suryakumar Yadav and Shivam Dube have informed us that they are available for the quarter-finals. The selection committee will meet soon and pick a squad for the same.”

Schedule for Ranji Trophy Quarterfinals
Notably, Suryakumar Yadav played in just one game this Ranji season due to his national team commitments. However, the swashbuckling batter played in both the Vijay Hazare Trophy and Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy for Mumbai before rejoining the Indian cricket team for the England series.
The first quarterfinal of the Ranji Trophy 2024-25 will be played between Kerala and Jammu & Kashmir in Pune, while Vidarbha and Tamil Nadu will face each other in the second quarterfinal in Nagpur. Lahli will host the Mumbai vs Haryana third quarterfinal, while the fourth quarterfinal will see a battle between Saurashtra and Gujarat in Rajkot, with all matches being held from February 8.
