‘For me, It’s MS Dhoni’: David Warner Declares India Legend as The Greatest Finisher in History

David Warner says he would have liked to open with Sachin Tendulkar in ODIs.

Australia batting star David Warner considers the legendary India cricketer MS Dhoni as the greatest finisher in cricket history and called South Africa legend Jacques Kallis as the greatest of all time.

“For me, it’s MS Dhoni,” Warner responded when asked who he thinks is the greatest finisher in history.

In a rapid-fire Q/A session on JioCinema, Warner, who is currently in India for the ICC Cricket World Cup, talked about the players who inspired him to become a cricketer and his love for Indian culture.

Which cricketer inspired you to start playing cricket?

For me, Shane Warne, Ricky Ponting and Adam Gilchrist were my idols. I wanted to play how they played the game. I wanted to be a leg spinner, Gilchrist was an opening dasher and Ricky Ponting – one of our best cricketers ever.

Who is the G.O.A.T of cricket?

Without a doubt Jacques Kallis.

Which is your favourite innings in international cricket?

335 (not out) against Pakistan at Adelaide in 2019.

Who do you think is the greatest finisher in the history of cricket?

For me, it’s MS Dhoni.

Your greatest moment from your cricket career?

Winning the 2015 World Cup.

Who is the one film star you would want to make a reel with?

Allu Arjun.

A cricketer from the past you would like to open the batting with.

Two cricketers – Sachin Tendulkar in ODI cricket and Virender Sehwag or Mathew Hayden in Test cricket.

If you were not a cricketer, what would you be?

An astronaut.

Rahul Dravid

Warner is widely regarded as one of the finest batters to have played the game for Australia and has already announced he will retire from ODIs post the world cup in India.
