Equinox, Mostahdaf Lead World’s Best Racehorse Rankings

Topped by Japanese star Equinox  and British talent Mostahdaf , foreign horses command the top spots in the latest edition of the Longines World’s Best Racehorse Rankings.

The top-ranked American horse is Godolphin’s Cody’s Wish , who is tied in 10th place after his rating climbed from 119 to 122 following a 3 1/4-length victory in the June 10 Metropolitan Handicap (G1). He won the May 6 Churchill Downs Stakes (G1) in his first start of the year for trainer Bill Mott.

Repole Stable and St. Elias Stable’s Up to the Mark  and Bruce Lunsford’s Art Collector  are right behind Cody’s Wish in the rankings, among a group tied in 16th place with ratings of 121. The former raised his rating a point with a 2 3/4-length victory in the June 10 Manhattan Stakes (G1T) at Belmont Park. Up to the Mark also won the May 6 Turf Classic Stakes (G1T) at Churchill Downs for trainer Todd Pletcher.

The Mott-trained Art Collector, the Pegasus World Cup Invitational Stakes (G1) winner, was most recently second in the May 5 Alysheba Stakes (G2) at Churchill Downs, spotting weight and finishing behind Smile Happy  but ahead of show finisher West Will Power , subsequent winner of the Stephen Foster Stakes (G1).

With a 125 rating, Paddington  is the top-ranked 3-year-old in the world, having won the St James’s Palace Stakes (G1) and Coral-Eclipse (G1) in his recent starts.
