Copper Tax First B-T Stakes Winner for Copper Bullet

Copper Tax  made his stakes debut a winning one Oct. 14, taking down top prize in the $100,000 Rocky Run Stakes at Delaware Park, becoming the first stakes winner for Darby Dan Farm’s freshman sire Copper Bullet  .

In winning his fourth consecutive race in front-running fashion, Copper Tax set all the pace in the one-mile fixture. He led the field under a strong hold up the backstretch and into the far turn, and drew off from his rivals in the lane to score by 6 3/4 lengths over the muddy, sealed track.

Owned by Rose Petal Stable and trained by Gary Capuano, Copper Tax is produced from the stakes-placed Majestic Warrior mare Wilhelmina, a half sister to Venezuelan champion sprinter Strength Mask. Copper Tax was a $45,000 acquisition from the Fasig-Tipton Kentucky Fall Yearling Sale in 2022.

Copper Bullet is a graded stakes-winning juvenile and multiple graded stakes-placed son of More Than Ready. He earned his biggest victory in the 2017 Saratoga Special Stakes (G2) as a 2-year-old. He retired at age four with a record 3-3-0 from 9 start starts and a bankroll of $339,345.
