Two out of the four Indian mixed doubles pairs in action entered the Round of 16 of the Badminton Asia Championships 2025 after winning their first round matches on Tuesday.
Dhruv Kapila-Tanisha Crasto and Ashith Surya-Amrutha Pramuthesh remain as India’s representatives in the mixed doubles category in the continental tournament.
Dhruv-Tanisha beat Malaysia’s Hoo Pang Ron and Cheng Su Yin 2-1. The Indian duo fell behind in the match after losing the first game 15-21, but fought back to clinch consecutive games 21-12 and 21-11 to win.
They will now face Chinese Taipei’s Ye Hong Wei and Nicole Gonzales Chan in the Round of 16.
Ashith-Amrutha eased past Sri Lanka’s Thulith Palliyaguru and Panchali Adhikari in just 20 minutes, winning 21-9, 21-11. The Indians, however, have their task cut when they face top seeded pair of Jiang Zhen Bang and Wei Ya Xin from China in the next round.
Sathish Karunakaran-Aadya Variyath and Rohan Kapoor-Ruthvika Gadde fell to Malaysian duos to exit the Asia Championships in the first round.
