India and Pakistan are set to play in the fifth match of the 2025 Champions Trophy on Sunday, February 23, at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. The Pakistan squad recently arrived in Dubai from Karachi and has been putting in rigorous practice sessions in the nets to prepare for the crucial encounter.

The match against India is a must-win for Pakistan, who are also the defending champions. He did not provide a clear reason, stating only that the former captain chose to rest.

Pakistan Struggled in Their Champions Trophy Opener Against New Zealand

Pakistan struggled in their Champions Trophy opener against New Zealand, conceding 320 runs. The Mohammad Rizwan-led team suffered an early collapse, losing three wickets for just 69 runs inside 21 overs. They relied on Babar Azam to anchor the chase, but he scored only 13 runs from his first 30 deliveries.

However, the 30-year-old batter managed just 64 runs off 90 balls. His cautious approach kept Pakistan behind in the chase, and despite a late fightback from Khushdil Shah, who smashed 69 off 49 balls, the Men in Green were bowled out for 260 runs in 47.2 overs, recording a loss in their opening match.

As per a PTI report, PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi urged skipper Mohammad Rizwan, Javed, and the players to give their all against India and secure a victory to silence their critics, including himself.
