Australia kicked off their preparation for the ICC ODI World Cup with an ODI series against hosts India. Following a loss in the three-match series, the Pat Cummins-led side will now go into the official warm-up matches for the showpiece tournament. Australia are set to face off against the Netherlands for the first practice match on September 30. The Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram will host the contest at 2 PM on Saturday. The Aussies will be desperate to make the most out of the warm-up games to gain some confidence boost ahead of the main tournament.
Before the trip to India, Australia travelled to South Africa for a limited-over series that included five ODIs. The Aussies won the first two games but ended up losing the series due to three consecutive defeats. Meanwhile, the Netherlands will make their fifth appearance in the ODI World Cup this year. The Dutch brigade made their debut in the ICC tournament back in 1996. They earlier qualified for the main event in 2003, 2007 and 2011. The Netherlands have not participated in any ODI game since losing the final of World Cup qualifiers to Sri Lanka.
