Former India cricketer Ambati Rayudu lavished rich praise on the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) batter Abhishek Sharma after his heroics in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. He believes that the batter will be part of the Indian setup after the T20 World Cup 2024.
Abhishek Sharma has been one of the most exciting talents in the ongoing Indian Premier League 2024. The batter has impressed one and all with his breathtaking batting performances in the ongoing league for the Sunrisers Hyderabad both at home as well as away.
Abhishek Sharma has been one of the main reasons behind the success of Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL 2024. The batter has been the intent merchant for his team as he has believed in only destroying the bowling lineups of the opposition with his brutal batting at the top.
Abhishek Sharma has only believed in hitting fours and sixes and has batted selflessly at the top, taking his team off to a flying start in almost every game. Along with Travis Head has been magnificent to watch as they have been the most threatening duo in the league.
Abhishek Sharma finished the league stage of the IPL as he slammed a brutal half-century in the game against Punjab Kings. He ended with an innings of 66 runs off just 28 balls. He batted with a strike rate of over 235 and also hit 5 fours and 6 sixes in his innings.
Overall in the season, Abhishek Sharma has been nothing short of exceptional. He has scored 467 runs at a strike rate of over 200 in 13 matches at an average of 38.92. Thanks to his valiant effort with the bat, Sunrisers Hyderabad finished second on the points table.
Ambati Rayudu revealed that he had a chat with Abhishek Sharma and asked him about getting big scores. The former India cricketer added that the young SRH batter told him that he is trying to be selfless and just wants to hit every ball for four and six. Speaking to Star Sports, he explained:
“I’ve had a chat with him in Hyderabad just a couple of days back, and I asked him the same question. What do you think of getting big scores? He said I’m just hitting at the ball and just trying to be positive and hitting every ball for four or six, that is, I feel him being absolutely selfless for the team, it’s so easy when you are in such kind of a form to just take it, take it back to take it easy for a couple of balls and then build big innings and score a 100.”

Ambati Rayudu stated that Abhishek Sharma needs to be appreciated because he puts the team first. He feels that players like Abhishek are very few in India and he will soon be playing for the team. He added:
“But he is doing it for the team and you need to appreciate a player like that. Very rarely, you have in your Indian setup for Indian players who have this mindset of playing for the team and not thinking about themselves, and that’s a great attribute to have.
“Going forward, I can’t see him not being in the Indian team after the World Cup, so just hope, hope that he continues the same mindset going into the Indian team and when he wears the blue jersey as well, I thought that he just plays the way he has been playing.”
Abhishek Sharma will be next seen in action when Sunrisers Hyderabad will take on Kolkata Knight Riders in the Qualifier 1 of the tournament at the Narendra Modi International Stadium in Ahmedabad.
