Alex Carey takes a blinder to remove Mohammed Siraj in Brisbane Test

Australia wicketkeeper-batter Alex Carey took a magnificent diving catch to his right to get the big wicket of Mohammed Siraj. It was a great catch considering he was wrong-footed for some time.

During the 63rd over of India’s first innings, Mitchell Starc bowled a full ball from around the wicket onto the stumps. The ball straightened a bit after pitching as Siraj looked to drive hard. However, he got a thick outside edge which went towards the first slip.

But Alex Carey gave a glimpse of his athleticism and dived full stretch to his right. He took the catch in front of Usman Khawaja at first slip as the ball stuck in his right glove. Carey managed to keep the ball inside and managed to catch the ball cleanly.

Mohammed Siraj was dismissed for 1 off 11 balls. India wanted him to stay at one end with Ravindra Jadeja batting at the othet end. However, he could not survive a perfect delivery from Mitchell Starc. Siraj had come at an unusual No. 9 spot ahead of Jasprit Bumrah and Akash Deep. But he wasn’t able to make any significaaant contributiob with the bat.

Starc is known to be an excellent option for the tailenders with his reverse swing and yorkers that always threaten to hit the stumps. It makes him such a dangerous bowler for the tailenders.

But the wicket wouldn’t have been complete without the brilliance from Alex Carey. He showed amazing athleticism and reflexes to take a blinder behind the stumps.

Alex Carey also had a wonderful time while batting. The Australian wicketkeeper scored 70 off just 88 balls when he was batting. Alex Carey played a great counter-attacking knock to push Australia to a strong first innings total. He struck 7 fours and 2 sixes during his knock and was also the last wicket to fall for Australia.

Australia dominate India at Gabba

Meanwhile, Australia have has shown its stength at home with some excellent performances with both nat and ball. The hosts scored 445 while batting first, riding on brilliant knocks from Steve Smith and Travis Head. Both Smith and Head scored hundreds while Jasprit Bumrah picked up a six wicket haul for India.

But Mohammed Siraj was not at his best with the ball. He was inconsistent at times and finished at 2-97 in 23.2 overs. In reply, India is struggling to avoid the follow-on. With persistent rain threatening the resut of the match, Australia will looking for a win.

However, India will be looking to fight hard and push for a draw, which will allow them to go into the last two Tests at level. The series is currently level 1-1 with India winning the first Test and Australia coming back hard to win the second one.
