Ace Impact Climbs in Longines Rankings Pre-Retirement

Ace Impact  climbed from a three-way tie for 10th to a two-way share of second in the latest Longines World’s Best Racehorse Rankings announced Oct. 12, just before news broke of the colt’s retirement.

Coming off of his win in the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe (G1), the French-trained runner is second only to Equinox , who has held the top spot since April. Ace Impact is trailing him by one rating point. Ace Impact shares the second position with fellow Irish-bred Mostahdaf , who maintained his spot from a month ago.

Ace Impact, a 3-year-old Cracksman  colt, remained undefeated in six starts with his Oct. 1 win at Longchamp. Coming from near the back of the field, Ace Impact went eight wide and chased down the rest of the field down the stretch to get the win. Jean-Claude Rouget trains him for owners Ecuries Serge Stempniak and Gousserie Racing.

Completing the top 10 are No .4 Hukum ; No. 5 Westover , who was second by 1 3/4 lengths in the Arc; in a three-way tie for sixth Golden Sixty, Lucky Sweynesse, and Paddington ; and tied for ninth are Auguste Rodin  and Titleholder .

No American-bred horses are in the top 10 for the fifth consecutive month. The late Art Collector was the last to appear in the rankings.
