Yograj Singh fires personal shots at Saqlain Mushtaq for disrespecting India

Yograj Singh, former Indian cricketer and father of legendary all-rounder Yuvraj Singh, has fiercely hit back at the legendary Pakistan spinner Saqlain Mushtaq for his controversial remarks about the India National Cricket Team after their ICC Champions Trophy 2025 triumph.

Saqlain Mushtaq recently suggested that if India considers itself a top cricket-playing nation, it should play a full-fledged series of 10 Tests, 10 ODIs, and 10 T20Is against Pakistan. After his statement went viral, Yograj Singh was quick to respond with a fiery retort.

Slamming Mushtaq, Yograj said that Pakistan doesn’t even deserve to face the current Indian cricket team. He also lashed out at the former Pakistan coach for questioning India’s stature, saying their cricketing standards are nowhere close to India’s dominance across the formats.

Earlier, Saqlain had claimed that Pakistan only needs to fix its internal issues to start delivering results. However, Yograj slammed Pakistan’s structure by saying a country that hasn’t learned in 78 years can’t be taught anything, especially by those who constantly criticize their own players.

Yograj Singh was quoted as saying by ANI, “I read Saqlain’s comment. What are you trying to get into? They don’t know how to appreciate it. They just speak. So, a lot of mouths were shut. They haven’t learned in 78 years. What can I teach them? People who keep berating their players, what can you teach them?”

The former Indian cricketer also suggested Pakistan learn from India how to run a country and a game. He added, “They should learn how to run a country from India and its government. It feels like India is playing a local team. They should try to play against our ‘B’ team.”

Earlier, Pakistan had endured an embarrassing ICC Champions Trophy 2025 campaign, as the host nation was knocked out in the group stage without a single win. They lost to India and New Zealand, while their last match against Bangladesh was washed out due to rain in Rawalpindi.

With just 1 point from 3 matches, Pakistan ended up at the bottom of the Group A points table. They were the first host nation to finish the ICC tournament without a single win, leading to massive criticism across the world. Despite their struggles, Saqlain had challenged Team India.

If you are really a good team, then…: Saqlain Mushtaq

Saqlain Mushtaq had said on the 24 News HD channel:. “If you are really a good team, I think let’s play 10 Tests, 10 ODIs, and 10 T20Is against Pakistan, and then everything would become clear.”

Notably, the Men in Green will be soon leaving for New Zealand for the white-ball series, while Indian players will be seen in action in the upcoming IPL 2025, starting on March 22.
