The CA$175,000 Autumn Stakes (G2) took off Nov. 5 at Woodbine Racetrack, with Wolfie’s Dynaghost ($9.70) making his way to the front and maintaining his lead over the 1 1/16-mile test.
Win for the Money finished second for owners Live Oak Plantation and Alpine Stable’s. Luckman completed the tote running third at 40-1.
The 5-year-old Ghostzapper gelding held onto the lead with Kazaushi Kimura in the saddle, setting early fractions of :24.71, 48.44, 1:11.90 and closing on the wire in 1:42.52, adding a 4 1/2-length margin between his competition.
The recent Durham Cup (G3) placed runner for trainer Jonathan Thomas and a home-bred for Woodslane Farm increased his earnings to $815,437 with a record of 9-2-5 in 23 starts.
The Autumn was his first graded win and second graded winner for his dam Dynaire. His Kitten’s Joy half brother brother, Sadler’s Joy , won the 2017 Sword Dancer Stakes (G1T), Pan American Stakes (G2T), and 2019 Red Smith Stakes (G3T) for their breeder Woodslane Farm with trainer Thomas Albertrani.
Mark Casse pupil Win for the Money held on in third for the first half of the race and nudged up by a head for second, just ahead of Luckman, who broke a step slow from the gate, made a big move at the three-eighths pole to get up in time for third.
