Yuzvendra Chahal and Dhanashree Verma’s divorce has left many shocked. Not very long ago, they were one of the most adorable celebrity couples in the country, and not many expected their marriage to hit the rocks.
However, they were granted a divorce by a family court in Mumbai last week. The Indian spinner and Dhanashree attended the hearing at the Bandra Family Court, which granted the divorce on a joint petition filed by mutual consent. The mandatory six-month cooling-off period was also waived in the case.

Yuzvendra Chahal and Dhanashree had tied the knot in 2020 after connecting with each other through social media during the pandemic. That not all was well between the two was very much evident when they decided to unfollow each other on Instagram. As per reports, they were also living separately since 2022 and finally filed for divorce last month.

According to reports, the main reason behind Yuzvendra Chahal and Dhanashree Verma’s divorce is the cricketer’s decision not to relocate to Mumbai and live with his family in Haryana instead. The reason has been revealed by senior Indian journalist, Vickey Lalwani.
Dhanashree, who is a choreographer, is associated with the entertainment business and wanted to stay in Mumbai. And it eventually led to the couple’s separation.
Real Reason out in the public
Taking to his Instagram account, Lalwani stated that a source has revealed that a key point of contention arose when Dhanashree insisted that Chahal relocate from his hometown in Haryana to Mumbai. The cricketer and his former wife failed to find a common ground due to their different personalities.
Yuzvendra Chahal and Dhanashree had initially settled in Haryana after their marriage and would visit Mumbai only when necessary. However, things started taking a turn for the worse when Dhanashree proposed that the couple relocate to Mumbai permanently.
Chahal not convinced by Dhanashree’s proposal
Chahal was not at all impressed with the proposal and turned it down. He decided to stay with his family in Haryana. The journalist also added that Chahal not only rejected the proposal but also found it unreasonable. Chahal and Dhanashree tried to find a solution, but their efforts were in vain. It also led to several heated arguments, and it eventually led to the divorce.
The leg-spinner is currently busy plying his trade for Punjab Kings in the ongoing IPL 2025. In the first game of the season, he conceded 34 runs in 3 overs without taking a wicket against the Gujarat Titans.
