“When Virat Kohli scores runs, his team loses..”- Virender Sehwag

Former India batsman Virender Sehwag appreciated his Junior statesman Virat Kohli for his momentous knock last night during RCB’s win over CSK.

The Royal Challengers Bengaluru scripted one of the most famous victories of Indian Premier League history against the Chennai Super Kings. Faf du Plessis’ side needed a big margin victory to ensure that they are heading to the playoffs for the 2nd time in 3 seasons and that’s what they exactly did.

du Plessis and Virat Kohli led from the front in the 1st innings in front of home supporters at the M. Chinnaswamy stadium. Both of them played a key role in giving RCB a positive start early on which the team carried on to the later half of the game. Reigning champions CSK just weren’t up to the mark as they were dominated thoroughly by Bengaluru.

What did Virender Sehwag say about Virat Kohli?

While speaking to Cricbuzz after last night’s match, Virender Sehwag only had words of appreciation for Virat Kohli. The former Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings opener claimed that Kohli was highly imperative in giving RCB a powerful start. Despite du Plessis scoring more than Kohli, Sehwag feels that the latter’s role was much more important than the South African’s half-century.

“The start was very important and he gave an amazing start to RCB. Although Faf du Plessis still scored more runs, the momentum Kohli gave, he was the best performer. He got out on 47 and his strike rate was 162.07. He has batted amazingly.” – Virender Sehwag said via Cricbuzz.

The Nawab of Najafgarh went on to express his pleasure to see Virat Kohli score runs at a 160+ strike rate and eventually win the match. Sehwag admitted that the Delhi-born batter is a big-match player who never misses out on showing up and performing in the big matches.

Virender Sehwag also highlighted the matches when Virat Kohli had scored runs but his side used to remain on the losing side. But yesterday, Viru was delighted to see the 36-year-old score runs for a winning cause. With RCB also sealing a playoff spot, Sehwag claimed that the team’s celebration will double.

“Virat Kohli has done what he is known for. Today he has shown that he is a big player in big matches. It was a great pleasure to see Virat Kohli, I was happy to see him scoring runs and win. Many times when his team loses, he performs but his team loses. But today it was excellent, he scored runs, team won and qualified. Today the celebration will be double.” – Sehwag concluded.

RCB awaits their opponent for Eliminator 1

Following their 27-run victory, RCB will now await to find out whom they will face in their Eliminator 1 match on Wednesday, May 22nd. Today’s doubleheader between Hyderabad Vs Punjab and Kolkata Vs Rajasthan will decide who will finish 2nd and 3rd. SRH are separated by just a point from second-placed Rajasthan and tonight everything will be clear.
