Chahal produced a particularly exceptional turner to get rid of Lyndon James as he baited the Englishman to play a defence on the front foot with his delivery that pitched in the line of the middle stump, but jiffed to hit the off stump, as the 33-year-old broke out in celebration.

Indian spinner Yuzvendra Chahal made a statement performance on his County debut as he picked three wickets for his new side Kent against Nottinghamshire on Monday.

Chahal produced a particularly exceptional turner to get rid of Lyndon James as he baited the Englishman to play a defence on the front foot with his delivery that pitched in the line of the middle stump, but jiffed to hit the off stump, as the 33-year-old broke out in celebration.

The English county side roped in the Indian leggie last week to represent them and Chahal has hit the ground running.

The Jind-born spinner missed out on the Indian squad for the ongoing Asia Cup and did not feature on the 15-man list for the upcoming ODI World Cup.

The Indian team registered a thumping win over arch-rivals Pakistan in the Super 4 round of the Asia Cup on Monday by a mammoth 228 runs, thanks to tons from former captain Virat Kohli and KL Rahul. Kuldeep Yadav led the way with the ball as he picked up 5 wickets to wrap up the Pakistani innings for a paltry 128 runs.

India were put to bat first by Babar Azam, who won the toss, and the Indians responded well right from the start as skipper Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill opened the inning brilliantly on Sunday with half-tons each, before rain pushed the game to the reserve day.

Shadab Khan removed Rohit, while Shaheen Shah Afridi dismissed Gill, but Kohli and Rahul picked up from where the openers had left off to notch up massive unbeaten centuries that helped India post a huge total of 356 for the loss of just 2 wickets.

Indian lead pacer Jasprit Bumrah was also brilliant on the day as he troubled the Pakistani top order with his varying swing and consistent length. He also Pakistani opener Imam-ul-Haq in stunning fashion, while Hardik Pandya and Shardul picked up a wicket each in addition to Kuldeep’s brilliant figures.
