Virat Kohli’s big statement on the ICC ODI World Cup 2027

During an event, Virat Kohli was asked about his next big step. After giving it a thought, Kohli admitted that he wants to win the next ODI World Cup, which will be jointly hosted by South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Namibia.

“The Next Big Step? I Don’t Know. Maybe Try To Win The Next World Cup 2027,” Kohli replied when asked about the next big step.

When Kohli revealed his intentions on winning the ODI World Cup 2027, he was cheered by the members present in the hall during the event.

Virat Kohli’s achievements

Kohli has won an ODI World Cup (2011), a T20 World Cup (2024), and two Champions Trophy titles (2013 and 2025) in his international career so far. However, he still seems hungry to win many titles in the future and the ODI World Cup 2027 is on this list.

He missed lifting the ODI World Cup 2023 by a whisker as India lost the final to Australia despite dominating the tournament played in home conditions.

Kohli emerged as the highest run-getter of the tournament with 765 runs in 11 matches at an average of 95.62 and a strike rate of 90.31. He struck 3 hundreds and 6 fifties during the course of the tournament which shows the level of consistency that he displayed.

However, the dream still remains unfulfilled as he was unable to lift the trophy. As a result, the 36-year-old veteran is determined and hungry enough to continue at least till the 2027 World Cup.

Virat Kohli in Champions Trophy 2025

Kohli recently played a pivotal role in India’s Champions Trophy win. He scored 218 runs in the tournament in five matches at an average of 54.50 and a strike rate of 82.88 with 1 hundred and 1 fifty.

He emerged as India’s second-highest run-scorer and played match-winning knocks against Pakistan in the group stage and Australia in the semi-final.

Currently, he is playing the IPL for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and will be aiming to win his first ever IPL title this year. He has started the tournament in a blistering fashion and looks in good form for the rest of the tournament.
