Jasprit Bumrah twisted his ankle badly on the follow-through as the Indian players looked tensed after watching the visual on the big screen.
Premier paceman Jasprit Bumrah survived an injury scare during the Super 4 clash between India and Sri Lanka on Tuesday. Bumrah twisted his ankle while bowling his first over as the hearts of his teammates and cricket fans were in their mouths for a few seconds. It was not a good visual when it happened as it looked serious but Bumrah continued the bowling and also went on to take a wicket in his next over.
Defending the 214-run target, Bumrah started the bowling attack for India and on the fourth ball of his over he twisted his ankle badly on the follow-through as Indian players looked tensed after watching the visual on the big screen. However, after a very brief break, he continued his over, meanwhile, he changed his shoes during the second over of the innings.

In his second over, Bumrah produced an absolute ripper to force an edge from Patthum Nissanka’s bat as India struck early while defending the moderate target in Colombo.
The 27-year-old recently returned to competitive cricket last month during the Ireland tour after a long injury lay-off. The premier paceman missed last year’s T20 World Cup, this year’s IPL and World Test Championship Final apart from the bilateral series due to a back injury.
However, he made an impressive comeback on the Ireland tour with the ball and also did well against Pakistan in the Super 4 contest in the Asia Cup 2023.
Earlier, India were bundled out for just 213 against Sri Lanka after Rohit Sharma won the toss and elected to bat first at R Premadasa Stadium, Colombo.

India’s opening duo of Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill yet again provided a solid start to the inning. Before Gill became the first victim of Wellalage, both the openers added 80 runs on the board. However, India kept losing wickets at regular intervals and struggled miserably against the spinners as Dunith Wellalage claimed a fifer, while part-timer Charith Asalanka picked a four-fer. It was the first time when India lost all 10 wickets to spinners in an ODI as the final wicket was taken by Maheesh Theekshana.
Axar Patel fought hard for India in the end to help them cross the 200-run mark. The southpaw scored crucial 26 runs off 36 balls.
