WATCH: Sachin Tendulkar Visits Kashi Vishwanath Temple Ahead of Varanasi Stadium Foundation Stone Ceremony

The 50-year-old little master, was in the holy city to attend the foundation stone laying ceremony of the international cricket stadium which is set to be built in the city, ahead of which he paid a visit to the famous temple.

Former Indian cricketer and probably the greatest batsman to ever pick up the willow, Sachin Tendulkar, paid a visit to the famous Kashi Vishwanath temple in Varanasi on Friday.

The 50-year-old little master, was in the holy city to attend the foundation stone laying ceremony of the international cricket stadium which is set to be built in the city.

A swathe of legends and icons have been invited for the ceremony. The land for the stadium was acquired at a cost of Rs 121 crore, while the BCCI will spend Rs 330 crore on its construction.

As per reports, the honourable Indian PM, Shri. Narendra Modi will reach Varanasia by air and lay the foundation stone around 1:30 PM IST for the International Cricket Stadium.

Situated near the Ring Road in Rajatalab area, the stadium will reportedly be built at a cost of Rs 451 crore and is expected to have a capacity of 30,000.

The stadium is set to be built with iconography paying tribute to the holy culture of the city in UP, and will feature crescent-shaped roof covers, floodlights shaped like a trident, patterns resembling bel leaves, and one of the structures shaped like a ‘damru’, a hand percussion instrument associated with Lord Shiva. The spectators’ gallery of the stadium will resemble the steps of the ghats of Varanasi.

The construction of the stadium is expected to be completed by December 2025, and it would be the third stadium located in the state of UP, in addition to the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow and the Green Park Cricket Stadium in Kanpur.

Top BCCI officials including president and former India allrounder Roger Binny will also be present alongside board secretary Jay Shah.
