Watch: ‘Mai jab chaahunga tab…’ – Kuldeep Yadav reveals the change he has made in his bowling | Cricket News

Kuldeep Yadav is headed to the US as part of India’s T20 World Cup squad on the back of a satisfying Indian Premier League (IPL) season on a personal level, while he would have liked to do more to take his team, Delhi Capitals, to the playoffs. Nonetheless, the IPL stint has given the left-arm wrist-spinner the rhythm going into ICC’s showpiece event.
In a JioCinema video shot during a net session with Delhi Capitals during the IPL, Kuldeep shared insights about the change he has brought in his bowling to get back to his best.

Talking to Kuldeep, former India batsman and T20 World Cup winner Robin Uthappa asked the bowler what technical change he has made to his bowling.
“One thing I have noticed in your bowling, especially over the last 2-3 years, you don’t give height like before when you flight the ball,” Uthappa said.
“I have changed my rhythm,” Kuldeep revealed in his reply. “Now that I have an aggressive rhythm, my ball is not dropping in a loop. Woh mai jab chahunga tab jayega, phenkne ki koshish karunga toh jayega, nahi to nahi jayega (it will go when I want; when I try to deliver like that, it will go, otherwise not).

Kuldeep took 16 wickets in 11 innings for Delhi Capitals in IPL 2024, with a best of 4/55, economy rate of 8.65 and strike rate of 16.12. Delhi finished sixth on the points table.
Kuldeep went on to describe why he no longer requires to give the ball much air.
“The rhythm that I have now, if I can turn that much in this rhythm, then I don’t need to flight it that much. You can do that at times to trap the batsman, but can’t deliver that way consistently,” he added.

Kuldeep will partner fellow wrist-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal, Axar Patel and Ravindra Jadeja as India’s four-pronged spin attack in the US and Caribbean during the T20 World Cup, where the pitches are expected to favour slow bowlers.
India will begin their campaign against Ireland on June 5, followed by the big game against Pakistan on June 9. USA and Canada are the two other teams in India’s group.
