The top-ranked T20I batter rejoins MI after recovering from an ankle injury ahead of MI’s home game against Delhi Capitals in IPL 2024.
In a video shared by MI, Suryakumar, known as SKY among his fans, can be seen resuming training in the nets at the Wankhede Stadium and is warmly welcomed by teammates, including Rohit Sharma and batting coach Kieron Pollard.

Suryakumar’s return follows his recovery from the ankle injury sustained last year. In the previous season, he emerged as the sixth-highest run-scorer, amassing 605 runs in 16 matches at an average of 43.21 and a strike rate exceeding 181.
His IPL career includes 3,249 runs in 139 matches at an average of 32.17 and a strike rate of over 143. He has scored a century and 21 fifties in the IPL, with his highest score being 103*.

Five-time champions MI sit at the bottom of the IPL 2024 table currently, after defeats in their first three matches of the season.
Pandya’s captaincy has drawn criticism from fans, evident from boos in stadiums and online trolling, especially after the franchise decided to replace Rohit with Pandya as the team’s captain for the ongoing edition of the league.
