NEW DELHI: Haris Rauf‘s impressive 5-29 and opener Saim Ayub’s 82 off 71 balls powered Pakistan to a commanding nine-wicket victory over Australia in the second ODI at Adelaide Oval. This win leveled the three-match series in style, with Pakistan chasing down the target with 23.3 overs remaining.
Rauf was the standout performer, his blistering pace dismantling Australia’s batting order for the second game in a row. Following up on his fiery spell in Melbourne, he showcased a fast-bowling masterclass in Adelaide, claiming five wickets.
Australia’s captain, Pat Cummins, expressed disappointment and assessed his team’s performance.
“It wasn’t one of our best days,” Cummins admitted. “They bowled well, but we should have done better and scored more than 160.” He noted that seam movement added to the challenge, saying, “We tried to attack, but it wasn’t to be.”
Despite the loss, Cummins voiced confidence in Josh Inglis, stating, “I’ll leave it to him; he has some experience. Let him be himself.”
Looking ahead, Cummins highlighted the importance of preparation for the upcoming Test series against India.
“We’ve got a week at home. Good training sessions are needed; our minds now shift to the red ball,” he said, underscoring the team’s focus on the Tests.
The win marked a historic moment for Pakistan, securing their first victory over Australia in Adelaide since 1996.
