A field of seven have been confirmed for the Vosburgh Stakes – race 9 on Belmont Park’s busy Saturday schedule. Post time is 5:26 PM. Let’s take a glance into the past performances of all seven combatants for this Grade 1 stakes – a Breeders’ Cup “Win and You’re In” qualifier for the Breeders’ Cup Sprint.

Rock Fall 2-5 – lightly raced but highly talented Todd Pletcher trained colt finished eighth in his debut and has reeled off six straight wins since – the first five by a combined 26 1/4 lengths – all at this distance! Last time out was a career-best effort – a win in the Grade 1 Alfred G. Vanderbilt Handicap at Saratoga August 1 after a 3 3/4 length win in the Grade 2 True North Stakes with an incredible 111 Beyer Speed Figure at Belmont Park June 5, three straight Allowance wins and a maiden score at Belmont Park in May, 2014. Rock Fall has been impressive indeed and looks to keep the roll going from the outside gate 7 the terrific Javier Castellano in the saddle of the morning line favorite.

Salutos Amigos 5-1 – has won five of his last eight starts (all stakes) for trainer David Jacobson – the Mr. Prospector Stakes at Monmouth June 28, the Grade 3 Tom Fool Handicap in March, the Grade 3 Toboggan Stakes in February, the minor Gravesend Stakes in December and the Grade 3 Fall Highweight Handicap November 27 with an eighth in March 28 Dubai Golden Shaheen at Meydan sandwiched in there. He has failed to hit the board in his last two starts overall however – a fifth last time out in the Grade 1 Forego Stakes at Saratoga August 29 followed a fourth in the Grade 1 Alfred G. Vanderbilt Handicap on that same track August 1. He also had a seventh in the Breeders’ Cup Sprint along the way and a win in the Grade 3 Bold Ruler Handicap in October. Salutos Amigos looks to get back on the winning track after two uncharacteristic outings from gate 6 with Cornelio Velasquez guiding him.

Palace 8-1 – last year’s third place finisher in this race was at his best last summer when he posted three wins and a second place finish in a four race span. The wins include the Grade 2 True North Stakes here in June, 2014, the Grade 1 Alfred G. Vanderbilt Handicap August 2, 2014 and the Grade 1 Forego Stakes four weeks later. He ended 2014 with a sixth in the Breeders’ Cup Sprint and has only two starts this year with just OK results. Last time out was a third in the minor John Morrissey Stakes at Saratoga July 30 after a fifth in the Grade 1 Carter Handicap in April. Palace will be after his first win in over a year Saturday and enters in so-so form. Jose Ortiz has the mount from the rail.

Stallwalkin’ Dude 12-1 – David Jacobson trained gelding has 12 wins, four seconds and four third place finishes in 32 career starts but enters in career best form. Last time out was a win in the minor Tale of the Cat Stakes at Saratoga August 23 after a second in the minor Teddy Drone Stakes August 2 and a third in the Grade 3 Belmont Sprint Championship in July. He has five wins, three seconds and a third place finish in his last nine starts overall and could be a factor this weekend as well. Irad Ortiz gets the call from post 5.

Wildcat Red – has 17 career starts – six wins, four seconds and three third place finishes – the lone off-the-board finishes were a troubled eighteenth in the Kentucky Derby, a fifth in the Grade 1 King’s Bishop Stakes last August, a fifth in January in the minor Florida Sunshine Millions Classic and a fourth last time out in the Grade 1 Forego Stakes at Saratoga August 29. Last July he had a decent third in the Grade 1 Haskell Invitational and a 10 1/4 length win in the minor Quality Road Stakes at Gulfstream June 28 and he did win the minor Teddy Drone Stakes at Monmouth Park two starts back – so we know he can run. Other notable career results include a good second in last year’s $1 million Grade 1 Florida Derby and a very impressive win streak in 2014 – in the Grade 2 Fountain of Youth February 22 and in the Grade 3 Hutcheson Stakes in February. Wildcat Red has placed in two of his last three starts overall and has been just OK lately against top competition. Jose Lezcano gets the call from gate 2.

Weekend Hideaway – won the minor Florida Sunshine Millions Sprint in January – the only time he’s placed in eight starts. He also won a couple of minor stakes last summer. He hasn’t been all that impressive since his win to start the year however – a fourth last time out in the minor Tale of the Cat Stakes at Saratoga August 23 followed a DNF in an Allowance Optional Claiming in June, a seventh in the minor Affirmed Success Stakes in May and a fifth in the Grade 3 Gulfstream Park Sprint in February. Weekend Hideaway certainly isn’t in great from heading into the weekend and will be after his first graded stakes score anyway. Luis Saez has been tabbed to ride from post 3.

Brothersofthetime – has just three wins, three seconds and three third place finishes in 21 career starts for trainer Jorge Navarro. He finished third in the Grade 2 Swale Stakes in March, 2013 but hasn’t been great since. Last time out was a fourth in the minor Teddy Drone Stakes at Monmouth Park August 2 after a fifth in an Allowance Optional Claiming in July and a second in a similar race in June. Brothersofthetime has a second and a third place finish in seven starts this year and looks over his head in this one. He leaves from gate 4 with John Velazquez guiding him.
