Virat Kohli reaches new milestone, joins Sachin Tendulkar in this elite list

NEW DELHI: Records are meant to be broken when Virat Kohli steps onto the field. Kohli might have not batted during the first day of the third Test against Australia in Brisbane but he still managed to achieve another significant milestone in his illustrious career.
Kohli joined an exclusive club by becoming only the second player to feature in 100 or more international matches against Australia, a feat previously achieved by the legendary Sachin Tendulkar.
During his illustrious 24-year international career, Sachin played 39 Tests and 71 ODIs against Australia. In Tests, he amassed 3630 runs and claimed 11 wickets, while in ODIs, he scored 3077 runs and took 20 wickets.

Kohli has had an impressive record against Australia, playing 28 Tests, 49 ODIs, and 23 T20Is. He has scored 5326 runs in 117 innings, maintaining an average of 50.24, with 17 centuries and 27 half-centuries.
After Tendulkar and Kohli, former West Indies opener Desmond Haynes, legendary Indian skipper MS Dhoni, and West Indies icon Vivian Richards follow, having played 97, 91, and 88 matches against Australia, respectively.
Talking about the match, Australia finished the day on 28-0 with Usman Khawaja 19 not out and Nathan McSweeney on four after India captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and chose to field.
Only 13.2 overs were bowled during the first session and there was no further play due to persistent rain, much to the disappointment of the big crowd that had filed into the Gabba.
