Thorpedo Anna expanded her lead over the field in the latest National Thoroughbred Racing Association Top Thoroughbred poll.
After becoming the new No. 1 in the poll last week, she added 10 points—and two first-place votes—to her advantage over No. 2 Senor Buscador .
But closing in is Dornoch , who climbed one spot in the standings to No. 3, swapping with National Treasure .
Dornoch, who won the Belmont Stakes (G1) and Haskell Stakes (G1) his last two times out, will tangle with Thorpedo Anna and No. 9-ranked Fierceness , who jumped up one spot from a week ago, in the Aug. 24 Travers Stakes (G1) at Saratoga Race Course.
Elsewhere in the rankings, Kingsbarns ‘ recent retirement saw him drop out of the top 10, making room for the return of Master of The Seas . Despite having two first-place votes, the 6-year-old gelding has raced just once this year and rounds out the top 10.
Kingsbarns recently sustained a training injury at Saratoga Race Course. The winner of the June 29 Stephen Foster Stakes (G1) at Churchill Downs has been shipped to Spendthrift Farm near Lexington, where he will begin his stud career in 2025.
In addition to Thorpedo Anna and Senor Buscador, Adare Manor , Arthur’s Ride , and Idiomatic also maintained their positions in the poll from a week ago holding Nos. 5, 6, and 7, respectively.
