Jasprit Bumrah is now well and truly the leader of the Indian bowling attack. He recently was the Player of the Series in India’s victorious T20 World Cup campaign.
Bumrah is currently rested from the T20I and ODI series against Sri Lanka with a long Test season coming up for the Indian team. Though Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli will play in the ODI series, Gautam himself spoke about the need to manage to manage Bumrah’s workload.
He is needed in India’s long Test season with Test matches against Bangladesh, New Zealand, and Australia to follow. The pacer was at his best in the T20 World Cup fooling batters with his deceptive pace and changes.

Sanath Jayasuriya in his recent interview with Times of India, spoke about Jasprt Bumrah and his uniqueness as a bowler. He said that a bowler with his skillset needs to be respected.
Jasprit Bumrah Needs To Be Respected: Sanath Jayasuriya
“He (Bumrah) is a unique bowler. We need to respect him and his skills. On his day, you’ll need to respect him, but then there are days when he is not up to the mark, it’s on those days you need to capitalise. Bowlers like him are on top because they’ve clear thinking in what they want to execute,” added Jayasuriya.
Bumrah is one short of 150 ODI wickets. He has already taken 159 Test wickets and is just 11 shy of completing 100 T20I wickets. He is third in the ICC Test rankings, fifth in the ICC ODI rankings, and not inside the top 10 in T20Is at the moment.
Jasprit Bumrah played a big part in India’s T20 World Cup win. His three-wicket spell against Pakistan with India defending just 119 was a match-winning effort. He was very emotional after India’s T20 World Cup win, saying that it was a big relief for the side.
A few days after India’s T20 World Cup win, Bumrah brushed aside any doubts regarding his T20I retirement. He is probably one of the two bowlers who play all formats including Mohammed Siraj at the moment. With Mohammed Shami likely to make a comeback in the Test series against Bangladesh, the trio of Bumrah, Shami, and Siraj will pair up again in Test cricket
