Telangana CM jumps into SRH and Hyderabad Cricket Association controversy; ban incoming?

IPL team Sunrisers Hyderabad (HCA) has put serious allegations against the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) over the blackmailing tactics by the board regarding the free complimentary passes.

The matter has forced Telangana’s honorable Chief Minister, A Revanth Reddy, to intervene, and he has ordered an inquiry into it. SRH has also asked for the cricket governing bodies to intervene and halt such tactics by the HCA.

Telangana CM intervenes as SRH clashes with HCA

A source claimed that the Chief Minister, A Revanth Reddy, has ordered a probe into this matter and asked to take strong action against the HCA if they are found guilty.

“The Chief Minister has ordered Vigilance Chief Kothakota Srinivas to inquire into allegations. He has asked Srinivas to initiate stern action on HCA members if found guilty,” the source was quoted as saying by Times Now.

SRH had written a letter to the BCCI and the IPL Governing Council in which they claimed that the HCA is threatening the franchise with more complimentary tickets during the IPL matches.

SRH threatens to move out of Hyderabad

Sunrisers are also planning to shift their home venue to another state if this issue doesn’t get resolved quickly. SRH general manager Srinath TB has put the blame on the HCA and its president.

“All these unprofessional threats and actions by HCA, especially by the HCA president, make it evident that you don’t want Sunrisers to play at your stadium,” Srinath wrote in the email.

“If that is the case, please let me know in writing so that we can inform BCCI, the Telangana government, and our management that you wish for us to move to another venue, and we will move,” he added.

The reports claim that Sunrisers Hyderabad are seriously considering moving out of Hyderabad and might not play their home matches at the Rajiv Gandhi International stadium in the ongoing tournament.

Sunrisers Hyderabad are in trouble

Sunrisers Hyderabad are currently eighth in the points table with 1 win and 2 defeats. They finished as the runners-up last year but haven’t started this season as well as they would have liked.

SRH won the first match but went on to lose their next two games, which has raised questions over their ultra-aggressive batting approach. In both the matches, they have lost wickets in an attempt to go an attacking route and were even all out in the previous match against Delhi Capitals.

They have one of the most destructive batting line-ups in the IPL currently, with both Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma going berserk at the top. The middle order has the likes of Nitish Kumar Reddy and Heinrich Klaasen, who possess the ability to destroy any bowling attack in the world.

They also brought in Ishan Kishan in the mega auction, and he responded with a brilliant century in the first game. Youngster Aniket Verma has been the find of the season for them so far.

Sunrisers Hyderabad have won the IPL once, in 2016, under the captaincy of David Warner as they defeated RCB in the final. They also reached the IPL 2018 final but lost to CSK in the summit clash by 8 wickets.
