Most Fours in a T20 World Cup
The current record is in the name of former Sri Lanka captain Mahela Jayawardene, who has hit 111 fours in the tournament over the years. But India’s batting legend Virat Kohli (103 fours) is expected to overtake that, requiring just nine hits more.
The other two in line to claim the top spot are India captain Rohit Sharma with 91 fours in T20 World Cups and Australian opener David Warner, who has hit 86 fours.
Most runs in a single edition
Teams have a chance to play more matches in this T20 World Cup because the number of teams has swollen from 16 to 20. That provides teams an opportunity to play nine matches, which puts the record for batsman scoring most runs in a single edition under serious threat.
Currently, India’s run-machine Kohli sits on top of the list. He scored 319 runs in the 2014 edition, where India played six matches.
Australia eye historic sweep
Under the captaincy of Pat Cummins, Australia are the reigning Test and ODI champions. If the Aussies manage to win the T20 World Cup as well, they will become the first team to be in possession of ICC trophies across formats at the same time. Notably, Australia are also the current U-19 Men’s World Cup and the Women’s T20 and ODI World Cup holders.

The fielding award for most catches in T20 World Cups may also get eclipsed in this edition of the tournament. Former South African batsman AB de Villiers holds the current record with 23 catches. Former New Zealand batsman Martin Guptill is next with 19 catches, followed by Warner (21 catches) and Rohit as well as Glenn Maxwell (16 catches each).
