PV Sindhu was stretched to a third game by compatriot Ira Sharma but prevailed 21-10, 12-21, 21-15 on Thursday in the second round of the Syed Modi India International 2024 in Lucknow.
The two-time Olympic medallist was trailing 13-10 in the deciding game before pulling back and settling the contest in 49 minutes.
Lakshya Sen will be in action later in the day when he faces Israel’s Daniil Dubovenko.
Earlier in the day, the mixed doubles pairing of Tanisha Crasto and Dhruv Kapila breezed past Mohit and Lakshita Jaglan 21-7, 21-13.
