South Africa add teenager Kwena Maphaka to squad for second Sri Lanka Test

NEW DELHI: South Africa have called up teen pacer Kwena Maphaka for the second Test against Sri Lanka which begins in Gqeberha on Thursday.
Maphaka, 18, has been added to the squad after seamer George Coetzee was ruled out for the second Test with a groin strain.
Maphaka has played three T20Is for the Proteas but is yet to make his debut in the traditional format.
Maphaka will be competing with Dane Paterson and Senuran Muthusamy for a place in the XI for the second Test.
South Africa convincingly won the first match in Durban by 233 runs which was their fourth consecutive Test victory.
The win keeps over Lanka in first Test keeps the Proteas in contention for a spot in the ICC Test World Championship final.
The final is scheduled for Lord’s in June.
A victory against Sri Lanka in Gqeberha would boost their chances significantly.
A subsequent series win against Pakistan later this month would guarantee their place in the final.
The Pakistan series also consists of two Test matches and will be played in South Africa.

Temba Bavuma (captain), David Bedingham, Matthew Breetzke, Tony de Zorzi, Marco Jansen, Keshav Maharaj, Kwena Maphaka, Aiden Markram, Senuran Muthusamy, Dane Paterson, Kagiso Rabada, Tristan Stubbs, Ryan Rickelton and Kyle Verreynne.
