Sourav Ganguly survives close call after a terrifying car accident in West Bengal

Legendary India captain Sourav Ganguly was lucky to escape injury during a terrifying accident on the Durgapur Expressway in West Bengal. Ganguly was on his way to the famous Burdwan University in West Bengal where he was invited to attend a function.

Despite the car accident, everyone was safe but Ganguly’s car suffered minor damage as it got hit by another car on the road. As a result, he had to wait for around 10 minutes on the road before proceeding on his way to the university.

Sourav Ganguly survives close call after terrifying accident

The accident took play at Dantanpur on the Durgapur Expressway as a lorry overtook Ganguly’s convoy suddenly which forced his driver to apply sudden brakes. It led to the cars behind Ganguly’s convoy to run into each other. One of those cars hit Ganguly’s car as well.

The former India captain, who was on the way to Burdwan University, didn’t face any injury but his car Range Rover faced some damage. Everyone involved in the accident was also found to be safe which allowed Ganguly to leave the spot after a few minutes.

The accident involved three vehicles. The car behind Ganguly’s car was also part of his convoy. The reports also claim that the car driver had no other option but to suddenly apply the brakes as the lorry tried to overtake his car.

Earlier this year, Sourav Ganguly’s daughter Sana Ganguly was also involved in a serious accident after a bus hit her car at Kolkata’s Diamond Harbour Road. However, she didn’t suffer any injuries and came out unscathed.

Sourav Ganguly decides to go ahead despite accident

Despite the accident, Sourav Ganguly decided to go ahead and attend the scheduled function at Burdwan University. He had a good interaction with the dignitaries and the students present at the event.

Ganguly also answered a few questions and spoke about the future of Indian cricket while also revealing his own experiences during his playing career. He also shared valuable life experiences with the students and also spoke about their careers.

The former India cricketer expressed his happiness to be at Burdwan University. He spoke about the CAB’s (Cricket Association of Bengal) old connection with the university and hailed the district for producing top-class cricketers.

“I am overwhelmed. It feels great to be in Burdwan. I am even more happy that you invited me. BDS (Burdwan Sports Association) was asking me to come for a long time. It feels great to be here today,” Ganguly said at the event.

“CAB has been working with the Burdwan sports organization for 50 years. Many players have emerged from the district. We will have to recruit players from the district in the same way in the future as well” he added.

Working with Delhi Capitals

Sourav Ganguly was recently seen in the Delhi Capitals’ camp in the ongoing Women’s Premier League (WPL). Ganguly is the Director of Cricket and is currently working with the DC women’s team.

However, he left the franchise as there was a gap between the team’s next match on February 22. Delhi Capitals will next face UP Warriorz in Bengaluru and Ganguly is expected to rejoin the team.
