Former India captain Sourav Ganguly has filed a complaint against a Bengali YouTuber for using offensive language in one of his videos uploaded on social media. The name of the YouTuber is Mrinmoy Das, who has a channel called ‘Cinebap’ on social media.
A case of cyberbullying and defamation was lodged for using Ganguly’s images and videos regarding the recent rape and murder case in Kolkata which rocked the nation as well. It is believed that Ganguly’s reputation was harmed by the use of his video and pictures.

Sourav Ganguly files a complaint against Bengali YouTuber
The case was filed by Ganguly’s secretary Taniya Bhattacharya, who made the news public. The secretary claimed that the YouTuber used a video of Sourav Ganguly and used abusive and derogatory remarks which would harm his reputation.
“I am writing to bring to your attention a case of cyberbullying and defamation involving a person named Mrinmoy Das. This individual has posted a video on a social media platform that targets Sourav Ganguly, using abusive language and making derogatory remarks, which are harmful to his reputation”, the secretary, Taniya Bhattacharya wrote.
Bhattacharya further asked for a proper intervention of the cyber authorities on the matter and a legal action to be taken against him.
“The context of the video constitutes not only an attack on Ganguly but also violates the dignity and respect that every individual is entitled to. We request your intervention in this matter and kindly ask that appropriate legal action be taken against Das for defaming and bullying Ganguly in this manner. We trust that the cyber department will take swift and necessary steps to address this issue and ensure that justice is served,” she further added.
A police officer was reached out on this matter who claimed that the police were already investigating it. “We have received an email and are looking into it,” the police officer was quoted as saying by Times Now.
Cyberbullying has grown into a serious concern in recent times and multiple cases are recorded every day. With the growing effect of social media, it needs to be controlled as well.

Last month, Sourav Ganguly initiated a candlelight vigil in Kolkata with his wife (Dona Ganguly) and daughter (Sana Ganguly) for justice for the victim in the horrific hospital rape case of a doctor that shook the entire country.
Ganguly also suffered severe backlash for his comments on the incident that happened at RG Kar Medical College & Hospital, Kolkata last month. He had earlier called the crime an “isolated incident” on which the whole state of West Bengal and India cannot be judged.
Sourav Ganguly is currently serving as the Director of Cricket at Delhi Capitals. The former BCCI president has been associated with the Capitals for some years now and will be looking to form a strong team in the IPL 2025 mega auction.
