Shamar Joseph destroys Ollie Pope’s stumps with a stunning delivery at Edgbaston

West Indies pacer Shamar Joseph has been top-notch with the ball in the ongoing second Test against England National Cricket Team. The final game of the series between the teams is underway at the Edgbaston in Birmingham.

After posting a total of 282 runs on the board, West Indies were off to a flying start with the ball. They were all over the England batters as they picked early wickets and put the hosts under pressure. They picked 4 quick wickets and left the opposition tottering at 54/5.

One of the key architects behind the early wickets was Jayden Seales. The fast bowler picked three quick wickets and was supported well by Shamar Joseph. The West Indies pacer, although they didn’t pick as many wickets, bowled impeccable lines and lengths.

Shamar Joseph got the reward for good bowling as he got the wicket of Ollie Pope. The fast bowler bowled a shorter and wider delivery of off stump. The batter tried to force it off the back foot but got a thick inside edge that ricocheted to hit the base of the middle stump and sent the batter packing.

Here’s the video:

Ollie Pope amassed 10 runs off just 20 balls. With his wicket, West Indies was left tottering at 51/4. After that things got worse for England as after that they lost Harry Brook (2). The hosts were in all sorts of pressure as West Indies picked five quick wickets.

With the team under pressure, Joe Root and skipper Ben Stokes joined hands and made sure that they bailed the team out of trouble. The duo soaked in all the pressure and made sure that they brought the team back to the game. While skipper Stokes ended 54 runs, Root has continued his golden touch.

Root has slammed another half-century and is making sure that he helps his team go past the West Indies total of 282 runs. The batter slammed a vital century in the last game and would be keen to hit another one and put his team in the dominating position with the bat.

Joe Root goes past Brian Lara as the leading run-getter in Test cricket

England batter Joe Root has continued his golden touch with the bat. The right-hander has been brilliant with the bat, and during his innings, he surpassed Brian Lara’s tally of 11953 runs to become the 7th leading run-getter in the history of Test cricket.

Joe Root, in the last game, slammed his 32nd Test ton and is just one ton away from becoming an England batter with the joint-most centuries in the history of the longest format of the game. Currently, Alastair Cook has 33 centuries to his name and is at the top of the list.

With the way Joe Root has been batting in the ongoing game, the right-hander looks all set to equal Alastair Cook’s record. He also has surpassed the 12000-run mark in Test cricket.
