He’s the OG Gen Old of the IPL – Shah Rukh Khan
The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) co-owner Shah Rukh Khan acted as the host for the IPL 2025 opening ceremony. After the conclusion of incredible performances, he invited Kohli to the stage in style by calling him the King of 22 yards, the heart of a billion people, the GOAT of cricket. Also, SRK labeled Virat Kohli as the OG Gen Old of the IPL and asked him a bold question.
“Virat is the only player who has played for just one team since the beginning of the IPL in 2008, RCB. He’s the OG Gen Old of the IPL. He’s such a big inspiration; I even used to stay awake late at night during his Under-19 days to watch him bat. I’m fortunate to be alongside him. Do you think the IPL will continue to be so wonderful, and the generation gold will continue to shine as you do and the others? Or will the Generation Bold start making a bigger and faster impact on this game?” SRK to Kohli.
Replying to King Khan, Kohli said that the bold generation is doing a good job, but the old generation is still here to make an impact in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
“The bold generation is coming up very strongly, but the old generation is still here, ready to make an impact, still ready to play the game, and hopefully keep creating more memories for all these lovely fans for years to come,” Virat Kohli replied to Shah Rukh.
Virat Kohli, Rinku Singh Join SRK for Electrifying Dance at IPL 2025 Opening Ceremony
After the interaction with Kohli, Shah Rukh Khan invited KKR batter Rinku Singh to the stage and had a chat with him about the fearless approach of the youngster.
Following the chats with the players, SRK, who looked in a fun mood, asked Rinku to dance, and the young batter chose to shake his legs on the popular ‘Lutt Putt Gaya’ track from the ‘Dunki’ movie.
Shah Rukh Khan wasn’t done there as he next asked Kohli to showcase his dance moves to the popular ‘Jhoome Jo Pathaan’ song from the blockbuster ‘Pathaan’ movie.
Looking at the King of Bollywood and the King of Cricket dance together, the Eden Gardens crowd broke out into huge applause. Notably, Virat Kohli was also presented with a special ‘IPL 18’ memento by the BCCI President Roger Binny.
