Las Vegas, NV – Woodbine Racetrack, in Toronto Ontario will play host to the Grade 3 Selene Stakes this Sunday, May 18. A purse of $150,000 will be on the line for three year old fillies willing to go 1 1/16 miles on Woodbine’s All Weather Track.
A minuscule field of just four will line up in the Selene Stakes – race 8 on Woodbine’s Sunday card. Post time is 4:44 PM. Here is a look into her past performances of all four entries for this Grade 3 stakes.
My Conquestadory – Mark Casse trained filly is coming off the only loss of her three race career – an OK fourth in the Breeders’ Cup Fillies Turf. Her other two starts produced wins in impressive style – the Grade 2 Summer Stakes against the boys by over three lengths on this track September 14 and the Grade 1 Darley Alcibiades as favorite by two lengths in her only other career start. She starts from post four Sunday and will have Eurico Rosa Da Silva in the saddle as the likely overwhelming favorite.
Cool Faith – Paul Attard trainee broke maiden against males at first asking – at 17-1 odds on this track September 28 and it took another four starts for her to post victory again – last time out in an Allowance at 7-1 odds at Keeneland April 11. She makes her graded stakes debut Sunday having raced two minor stakes races this past winter – a second against the boys behind Matador in the Cup and Saucer Stakes here in October and a disappointing eighth in the Ginger Brew Stakes at Gulfstream in January. Cool Faith is seen as My Conquestadory’s main threat Sunday and leaves from the rail with Jesse Campbell aboard.

Paladin Bay – has placed in nine of 10 career starts – three wins, four seconds and two third place finishes for trainer Harold Ladouceur and has finished first or second in her last five starts overall. She makes her graded stakes debut off a second in the listed Star Shoot Stakes April 19, a win in the Ontario Lassie Stakes in December, a second in the minor South Ocean Stakes and a win in the Princess Elizabeth Stakes in November – all results at Woodbine. She has looked good on this track and could reasonably provide a bit of an upset Sunday. Gerry Olguin rides from post 2.
Midnight Bliss – has four career starts for trainer Nicholas Gonzalez with a win and a second place finish. The win came in her second career start – a Maiden Claiming at Gulfstream March 5 and she followed that with a fourth in a Starter Optional Claiming on that same track and a second last time out in an Allowance here April 19. She will have Luis Contreras in the reins from post 3.
